The San Fran Bike Safari

In May I bought on Groupon a deal for a photo safari and finally redeemed it yesterday. This photo safari is mainly taking photos leaded by a professional photographer while visiting the destination you choose, so I got the San Fran bike safari.

Since I was already driving to San Francisco I got there earlier so I could walk around before the safari. I arrived around 11am, parked my car at the end of the crooked part of Lombard St. and started walking to the Coit Tower, I went up the tower and walked to the Levi's Plaza and then walked to Union Square. It was a really nice walk and I got to see some new places that I really liked, the only bad thing is that there where a lot of ups and downs and at the end my right knee started to hurt a little bit so at the end I took a taxi and went to the bike rental place where I met with the rest of the group for the safari.

I was really scared because I haven't riden a bike in almost 10 years and when I got to the bike rental place and started talking to the rest of the group most of them seemed to be good bikers. We began the tour around 2:30pm and our first stop was Fort Mason. To get there, there is a small hill and I felt already tired when I got to the top, but then we stopped to take some pictures at the top of the hill and then more photos at the bottom of the hill. Then we went to the Palace of Fine Arts, biking there wasn't to hard because it was all plain, we stayed there around 45 minutes and then came the hard part, biking all the way up to the hill to get to the Golden Gate, then bike through the bridge and get to Sausalito, in total it's about 9 km with no stops!!!
Once we got to the top of the hill just before crossing the bridge I felt I was dying, it was soooo hard and my legs where sooo tired that I though I wouldn make it, but I did it!!!!!! So in total yesterday I walked around 3.5 km before the safari and then biked 12 km.

Once we got to Sausalito we stayed there for a while, we had an ice cream and we were suposed to get the 7pm ferry, but there was no ferry at 7pm so we waited for the next one that left at 7:45pm, in the mean time we had dinner at an Italian restaurant and then finally back to San Francisco, once we got there we still had to bike for a little bit longer to get to the rental place to return the bikes and the I had to walk like 10 mins to get to my car, at the end I did't felt my legs and I just wanted to sit down. But overall I had a good time, took some photos and the group was really nice so I got to meet new people!

I finally got home around 10pm, took a hot bath and slept like a baby. I thought I was going to be all soar today but I'm not, I think that the yoga classes helped me ;o)
